Learn About ADS ADS at UMass

ADS wins the Sammy Award
We received the 2011-2012 Sammy Award for the Outstanding Registered Student Organization of the year. There are over 200 Registered Student Organizations on the UMass Campus.
Kristian Rose Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship founded by ADS and the Bay State Games to honor a member who was tragically killed by a drunk driver. ADS takes pride in being able to give students a yearly scholarship in honor of Kristian Rose.
ADS Sports Talk Series
In 2011, ADS started a yearly panel series. Our first year we critically examined Lebron James in a panel titled ‘Who is Lebron?’ In 2012 ADS brought in ESPN’s Kevin Blackistone to help us dive deeper into college athletics. The 2012 ADS Sports Talk Series was titled, ‘Amateur Hour: The Commercialization of College Athletics’
ADS Networking Trips
ADS strives to provide networking opportunities to members. One of the ways we do this is through trips. Frequent day trips include stops in New York City or Boston. One of our bigger trips that has started to become a yearly tradition is the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. This trip has not only been fun for members to learn of new trends in the sport industry, it has become a bonding trip for the club.
Community Service
One of the main objectives for ADS is community service. ADS believes that giving back to the community is important. ADS participates in many events every year that focus on building a stronger community and helping those in need. ADS has helped out giving away Turkey’s during Thanksgiving, being race officials at charity runs and any other way that ADS could lend a helping hand.
Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management Career Fair
The biggest event for ADS is the Career Fair and Panel Series. This event has become a critical part of professional development for sport management students at UMass. ADS brings in organziations from all aspects of the sport industry and from all locations to offer internship and job opportunities to the UMass students. In addition to the fair, ADS runs multiple panel series throughout the day that focus on many aspects of the industry. The purpose of the day is to provide opportunities for students to break into the sport industry and to network with established industry leaders.
